March 2015 – Wedding Dress of the Month

Wedding Dress of the Month By Sarah- Senior Bridal Consultant

Hi, to all the beautiful women out there. I have the pleasure of doing the March edition of Dress of the Month which will be featured on the Embrace Bridal Boutique website, Instagram and Facebook pages. The blog will also provide tips and suggestions to help you choose the right dress for your body shape and style that you may be looking for. It was tricky choosing the first dress, as all of our dresses are new to Geelong and are all so very beautiful.

The dress I have chosen is ‘Rhiana’ from the ‘Two’ range by Rosa Clara. The reason for choosing this gorgeous dress is because it is truly a classic vintage style which I love. I look at this dress and I it makes me think of that Grace Kelly elegance. It is a very 50’s inspired dress which features a beautiful Guipure lace bodice with a high neckline up to collarbone and a pleated organza skirt with box pleats. There is a small train on the skirt, but the dress also has the option of a detachable 2 ½ metre train that can be hooked up under the waistband at the back. The back of the dress has a zip with covered buttons that line the zip all the way up to the top of the neckline.

The other reason I for choosing this dress is because it is a dress that can be worn in any size, from a tiny size 6 to a fuller voluptuous figure in 20 plus. I can’t think of a body shape that wouldn’t suit this dress. The pleated waistband gives the illusion of a small waist. The box pleats can hide a fuller bottom, tummy and hips. For a lot of us, they are the parts we want to hide. The inner bodice features boning and a built in bra for extra support and added effect to bring in your waist. These are all the features I love in a beautifully constructed gown.

There are so many location weddings these days and brides are wanting to choose a dress that is suitable to the location they are getting married. My personal opinion is, you are a Bride and you can wear anything you want on your special day. Choose a gown that you will love and that makes you feel like a million dollars, not because of the location. The ‘Rhiana’ dress is a style that can be worn to any Wedding, whether it be a garden, beach setting or wearing it down the isle of a traditional church ceremony. The detachable train gives the gown a more opulent effect. If you want a simpler look, you can simply detach the train!

This dress can be accessorised with either a veil or headpiece. If you are looking for a Regal effect, a cathedral veil looks gorgeous with this dress. A raw or ribbon edge veil is soft and does not draw any attention away from this beautiful dress. If a cathedral veil is too much, then a fingertip length is really lovely. The veil is an accessory and I use aspects of the dress to decide which veil looks best. If you don’t want a veil then a simple headpiece looks beautiful too. There is soft beading on the lace so a headpiece of soft clear crystals and pearls will look really beautiful.

For a lot of Brides, shopping for a gown can be daunting. But remember, it is meant to be a fun and exciting experience. So take a deep breath and enjoy trying on some beautiful styles. If you see something on the rack that you like, try it on. It doesn’t matter if that style isn’t the one you saved from Pinterest on your phone. Quite often it is better to see something on rather than hanging on the racks or an airbrushed image in a magazine.

Signing off for the March edition, hopefully we see you in store soon. Hope to see you soon
